A PROGRAMME DEDICATED TO FORMER PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS:
This training course is dedicated to all former professional footballers from across the globe, wishing to acquire management skills and a better understanding of a future manager’s environment. This course is open to referees and high-level futsal players.
A SPRINGBOARD TO A SECOND QUALITY CAREER:
Professional retraining can be a difficult period, especially at the end of a football career.
To help with this transition UEFA MIP offers a training programme that enables athletes to develop and enhance their skills in order to acquire new knowledge and realistically consider a second career.
INTERNATIONAL TRAINING:
UEFA MIP is an international programme open to footballers of all nationalities. This creates a mix of various personalities and experiences which demonstrate the cultural richness of the participants. The programme is held exclusively in English.
A PROGRAMME IN COLLABORATION WITH UEFA:
The UEFA MIP diploma, supported by UEFA, is awarded by the University of Limoges and CDES. This tailor-made UEFA MIP programme responds to the specific issues faced by former professional footballers.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The UEFA MIP is dedicated to former professional athletes (generally footballers but not exclusively), of elite international-level and from all countries. This programme enables former footballers who wish to equip themselves with high-performance tools to start their next career.
The aim is to progress from Top Players to Top Leaders.
UEFA MIP: specially designed to meet the individualities of these top-level sportspeople as well as the needs of sports organisations.
Former top-level professional athletes have a lot to offer the sports sector. The skills acquired as athletes are also those expected from managers in companies and organisations (leadership, commitment, unifying spirit…). Therefore, second career opportunities within sport is a realistic and achievable goal due to the strong interest shown by the sector.
This way, UEFA MIP aims to transfer and complement these skills through adapted and innovative learning methods and make these athletes tomorrow’s leaders!
HOW?
Each promotion constitutes a maximum of twenty participants. Each of them must actively attend the 7 programme sessions and is expected to get involved in the many pedagogical exercises. They will have to organise and write a report, which they have to orally defend at the end of the training.
The expected level of education required is Bac+ 5 level, however, the pedagogical methods have been specially designed to meet the aspects and original career paths of elite-level professional athletes.
The Centre of Law and Economics of Sport and the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre possess valuable experience in implementing this active teaching method.
HOW IS IT STRUCTURED?
The programme consists of 7 sessions of 5 days duration, lasting over a period of 20 months (November 2015 to June 2017 for the first edition). It is adapted to a professional schedule. The European sessions are located in Nyon, Paris, London, Munich, Amsterdam, Barcelona or Madrid while the last session takes place on the American continent, in New York.
COST OF THE TRAINING:
The training costs 27,000 euros for two years.
